Tips for division facts
Turn it into multiplication: for 56 ÷ 8, ask “8 times what makes 56?” The answer is 7.
Fact families link four facts together: 7 × 8 = 56, 8 × 7 = 56, 56 ÷ 8 = 7 and 56 ÷ 7 = 8.
Questions and answers
How do times tables help with division?
Every division fact is a times-table fact in reverse. If you know 6 × 9 = 54, you also know 54 ÷ 9 = 6 and 54 ÷ 6 = 9.
What is a fact family?
A fact family is a group of related multiplication and division facts that use the same three numbers. For example, 3 × 4 = 12, 4 × 3 = 12, 12 ÷ 3 = 4 and 12 ÷ 4 = 3.
Are there remainders in this game?
No. Every question divides exactly, with a whole-number answer from 1 to 12, so you can focus on recalling the facts.
